New Seiko Instruments Printer Reduces ATM and Kiosk Maintenance

APU-9347 High-Speed Direct Thermal Printer Raises Reliability Standard and Adds 10-inch Paper Roll Support to Lower Operating Costs

Torrance, CA, September 19, 2007 – Seiko Instruments USA Inc. (SII), Micro Printer Division, a globally recognized leader in thermal printer technology, today introduced the APU-9347 3-inch direct thermal kiosk printer. Developed for demanding self-service applications, the new printer delivers a minimum 150 kilometers of output and 1,000,000 cuts, representing a 50 percent life span improvement for the print mechanism and auto-cutter. For ATM and kiosk vendors, the unsurpassed reliability and support for a large 10-inch paper roll mean fewer maintenance trips, more application uptime and lower operational costs.

“The APU-9347 is a product of our commitment to listening to what customers want and developing innovative solutions to meet those needs.” said Bob Falco, Manager of Seiko Instruments Micro Printer Division. “The APU-9347 is an extremely reliable and cost-effective direct thermal printer for kiosk and ATM self-service applications.”

The rugged APU-9347 appeals to designers and system integrators seeking unsurpassed reliability and high-performance. Requiring no additional parts to support a 10-inch diameter paper roll, the printer accelerates transaction times with up to 200 millimeters per second print speeds, using an innovative tension control and brake mechanism to avoid paper jams and wrinkled or illegible output.

The new APU-9347, offered with USB (APU-9347-BO2U) and Serial (APU-9347-BO2S) connectivity, is based on the Seiko Instruments CAP9000 mechanism; the printer that defines the class for durability, reliability, performance, and integration flexibility. The unit offers 203 dpi resolution, and supports a wide range of paper thicknesses and formats, for printing receipts, tickets, and labels.
