Seiko Instruments Inc. Now Shipping RoHS Compliant

Early compliance to European Union directive demonstrates commitment to customers and the environment.

TORRANCE, Calif. – June 16, 2005 – Seiko Instruments Inc., Micro Printer Division (MPD), has detailed a comprehensive program to eliminate hazardous substances from its printer products. The effort includes full compliance for EU restrictions on use of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, and PBB and PBDE flame retardants by the end of fiscal 2005.

“By offering RoHS-compliant products well in advance of the July 2006 deadline, Seiko Instruments Inc demonstrates a continued commitment to its channel partners and customers for delivery, design and manufacturing excellence while meeting important environmental guidelines,” said Bob Falco, director and division manager, Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division. “This enables our customers to integrate our best-in-class into their global supply chains, avoiding any compliance issues.”

Falco added, “Seiko Instruments Inc has been working on this effort since 2002 and to date, approximately 25 percent of MPD part numbers are now compliant.
